I inherited an old rabbit hutch, raggedy looking, but when I cut enough dead limbs out to take a closer look (with intent to clean it out), I find it is sturdy. It is tipped because it is not on stable footing and the hill is steep.
It is uphill so I would have trouble taking care of any rabbits during snow. Still, if I can pull it out and get it down the hill, it would hold a couple French Angora rabbits.
Textiles! I cut out enough branches to get in for rocks, but not enough to get this thing out of there.
Before I do that, I need to decide where to put it. Its current location is nice, shade in the summer and wind protection in the winter. Broken ankle or hip in the snow, not so much. Unless I make a first class pathway to it… but shoveling a long pathway is not my cuppa.
Let me consider it….
It is a nice spot, adjacent to one of my venerable One Seed Juniper trees. I like the spot as a miniature enclosed garden, and the evergreen Creeping Mahonia I planted on the edge look good this year. They also like protection from fierce winds and fierce sun (my most abundant resources). No blooms yet, maybe next year.
Instead of tearing it out in chunks, I will use it for raising French Angora rabbits. How am I going to make that happen? To be determined.
