For all the security agencies in the country, it does not
necessary for them all to make use of guns at their various duties. In other
words, some other sets of security agencies cannot operate without using guns.
Which means that, making use of guns in security sector of the country largely
depends on
gravity at which they are operating.

The responsibility of the traffic maintenance bodies is to
monitor the movement of high way users; it is not to threaten their lives. They
are to check or search their belongings if necessary without stressing them.
Problem can only arise when driver or any passenger disobey
them when they ask him or her to surrender himself or herself for searching may
be there any illegitimate items with them.
For instance, a man who walked late at night because his car
broke down when he left where he was coming from was stopped by police
officers. He was ordered to come down and he did. They asked him several
questions which he honestly answered. He surrendered himself and obeyed when
they asked him to empty his pockets and to open his hand bag.
The police officers were so happy and allowed him to leave.
The incident did not take more than five minutes and nothing suspicious was
caught with him. If he refused to cooperate with them and saw them as delay,
the story might be different from this because it might be accompanied by
threat and got more delayed beyond the five minutes.
Most of the countries in the world are practicing what we
know as democracy and attributes of democracy supposed to be exhibited by
everybody including securities agencies without any instance of power abuse;
while roads users should always obey traffic rules and regulations including
those are enforcing them on the citizens.
What I believe is that violence in traffic stop point can
only arise when there is no cooperation either from the road users or the
traffic stop officer who abuses the power bestowed onto him by government. This kind
of violence may lead to loss of lives.
Therefore, guns are not needed to stop a car on the road
since what they need to do is to check driving license and some other necessary
things. The police also supposed to be the lovers of people not enemies. In
case there is an argument that may later result to violence among people in the
society, police are in the position to settle it with them without requesting
for unnecessary money. They should be
peace makers.
As they have power to arrest people who are offenders or
suspects, they are also civilian just like other people and they should be
treated as such.
There is tendency that police officers may know the armed
robbers different from when they see them. The gun should be kept in holster in
case they come across of criminals who are carrying guns, the gun should not be
used to force people to comply.
Many cases, when criminals are walking on the roads, they
carry guns with them because of their rivals that they may meet. This means that
police need guns in their holsters in order to stop sudden threat that may come
against them and to prevent the commission of felony.
Beside, using of guns in the traffic stop should be
discouraged because of its risky status. There is an instance of a man who was
shot by a police man in traffic stop because of little argument between the
police and the man. The police was also executed by the government.
There are two cases here.
1.
If the man had done the right thing by complying
with the police order did what he was asked to do. He would not have lost his
life that way.
2.
If the use of guns in the traffic stop joints
has been discouraged, the police man would not have gun that he used to shot
the man.
There is necessity for rule of law to be respected by
everyone. The road users should comply with the police because it is right
thing to do not because afraid of being shoot. It may possible that you obey
and the police officer goes beyond his limit and violate your civil right,
there is one place to seek redress which is court and not by the road side.
If you are trying to fight for your right at the road side
against the police who abuse his power to oppress you, anything can happen in
the process that may even claim live like of that man. So, it is better to sue
the officers rather than fighting by the road side.
